DIY: How to make your own furniture spray!

I was cleaning the other day and realized I ran out of Pledge furniture spray.  Ugh.  My options were to either get dressed, put on makeup, do my hair, drive to Walmart which is 15 minutes away, OR, make my own.  Hmmmm.  Changing out of my pajamas to buy furniture spray did not seem like a viable option, so then started the internet searches for how to make my own furniture spray.  And what do you know, I had all the ingredients already!  Score!

All you need is:

  • 2 Teaspoons Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon lemon essential oil
  • 1/4 Cup vinegar
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • Spray container

Ok, so I did not have the lemon essential oil, but I did have Lavender.  So lavender it was.  I mixed these all together in my spray bottle (bought at Walmart for 98¢) and voila!  Furniture spray.  And you know what?  The lavender actually smells pretty good, and I was quite impressed with how well this spray worked on my furniture.  I just may never buy furniture spray again.  Double score!

  1. May be a silly question – but is that 1/4 CUP of vinegar?? Thanks! I’m going to be making this & trying it out. Love the tip!

    1. Oops, sorry about the typo! Yes, that’s 1/4 Cup of Vinegar. I have fixed the post. Thanks for catching that! 🙂
