DIY: Make your own gunk remover! (works like Goo Gone)

Have you ever looked at the ingredients in Goo Gone?  Those are some pretty harsh chemicals, not to mention they are very flammable,

Well here is a super simple recipe for your own home made gunk remover.

All you need is:

  • Airtight container of some sort
  • Baking Soda
  • Coconut Oil

How much of each ingredient depends on how much gunk remover you want to make.  I put in 1/3 cup of each.   So just use equal parts of each.  If you want it a little thicker, add a little more baking soda.

Right now, I have a large glass container that I need to get the label removed from, as I will be using this jar for my home made candles!

So I’m just going to set the jar on its side, and place some of my home made gunk remover paste on the label, and let it sit for a little while.

I let it sit for a little while (how long you need it to set depends on how sticky the sticky stuff is on the container), and then placed it under hot/warm water and did a light scrub with a sponge, and voila!  Label came off effortlessly.

I have quite a bit of gunk remover left over to last me a while!  And NO harsh chemicals were used.  The coconut oil is actually really good for your skin, so you can apply it with your hands with no fear!  And it’s also not harmful if swallowed.
