Slow Cooker Recipe: EASY ham and northern beans soup, so delicious!!

Ham and beans, oh my!  This is one of the EASIEST recipes ever, and it is so delicious!  You can throw the ingredients in a pot and cook it on the stove, or you can do what I do, and use the slow cooker!

I had told my mom I really wanted a non-stick slow cooker for Christmas (cleaning up after my ceramic crock was a pain in the you-know-what!)  To my surprise, my parents got me a completely AWESOME Ninja 3-in-1 cooker for Christmas instead!  (Thanks mom & dad!!)  🙂  And this was the first meal I made in it!

You will need:

  • 1 lb bag of dried northern beans
  • Cut up chunks of ham (I also had a frozen ham bone in the freezer and added that)
  • 6 cups of water
  • 2 Tablespoons of onion powder
  • salt/pepper to taste

You do not need to soak the beans beforehand, if you use the slow cooker.  Just throw all the ingredients in your slow cooker, give it a stir, and let it cook on low for 8 hours.  The aroma that filled the house was unbelievable!  All day long, it was like torture waiting for this to finally be done.

My boyfriend and I LOVED this dish!!  And it was so ridiculously easy!   Chris actually said “I never expected this kind of flavor”.  SO flavorful!  If you are looking for an easy-peasy dish that is delicious, you should try this one!  This is now going to be one of my recipes that I call on often!

Do you LOVE this recipe?  If so, please PIN it!!   🙂
